Smartphone Apps are a very handy accessory for anyone who uses electronic cigarettes and there are literally hundreds out there. Finding the most useful however can be a bit of a challenge so we have created a breakdown of the most important and useful apps for vaping to save you the headache.
So what is a vaping app? No we aren’t talking about an app on your iPhone that magically allows you to such vapour out of the headphone jack or anything outlandish like that, however apps still can be a useful tool to have in your arsenal and here are a few reasons why.
Why use Vape Apps?
1) You can use Vape calculator apps to work out how much money you are saving from switching to eCigs from analog cigarettes.
2) Using Vape Ohm calculators helps you work out the best combination of battery and coil resistance. This helps to find out how quickly your battery will drain with a certain configuration and how to find the best combination for the ultimate clouds whilst ensuring your own safety.
3) If you are mixing your own eLiquid then you can use eLiquid calculators to help you calculate nicotine and pg/vg levels so your final mix is accurate.
Some tools specialize in one area of Vape calculation and others cover multiple however with varying quality and accuracy compared with some of the specialist options. Some apps are more geared towards people are are new to vaping and want to track how much money they are saving and their health improvements. While other more apps have been created for the more experienced vapers using MODs and RDA’s who are learning about coil wrapping and Ohm resistance.
QuitNow (iOS) | (Android)
Available for both iOS and Android users QuitNow is a great achievement app and calculator to help gamify the experience of quitting smoking by giving you a breakdown of your savings, health improvement notices and awards as you reach milestones in your recovery. Definitely a good tool for all whether you lack the motivation or not this app is still a great way to keep an eye on your savings and more and the graphical user interface is one of the more attractive.
Vape App (Android)
Similar to QuitNow in what it can do but only available for Android users and doesn’t have quite as nice a GUI but it’s still clean, attractive and easy to use. Provides ability to keep a log of how many days you have been smoke free, money saved and other features like an eLiquid mixing calculator and recipe book.
Smoke Free (iOS) | (Android)
The Smoke Free app is another savings calculator app that also gives you an insight into the health benefits and the life you have gained back during the time you have quit. There is not much else to this plugin but it works well and is available on Android and iPhones / iPads.
eCig Diary / eCig Diary Pro (Android)
An app to keep a track of your progress quitting smoking, it has a more minimal interface than some of the nicer options, is limited to Android. Keeps track of the number of cigarettes you have avoided, money saved, how long you have been smoke free and a few other tools. The free version has some limitations on using the additional tools such as the ohm calculator.
Ohm’s Law (iOS)
An app that helps Vapers who need to do ohm calculation to work out how many times to wrap their coil, or how much battery will be drained with a specific Mod setup or how long their battery will likely last. This is a minimal tool that isn’t very attractive but works and is totally free.
Micro Coil Pro (iOS) | (Android)
The ultimate app for coil builders, enter the information about the coils you wish to create and set criteria such as number of wraps, coil diameter and more it will then calculate the final resistance of your coil design. This app is premium but worth it for those who need it and is also compatible with both Android and iOS.
Vapers Toolbox (Android)
Both an Ohm calculator and coil-builder tool in one that will help you work out how much wire you need to create the desired design and to achieve the correct resistance. Only for Android but it is a free option.
eJuice Labs (Android)
eJuice Labs is an FREE eLiquid calculator that is easy to use. As you would expect you can set your ideal PG/VG ratios, flavour mixture and strength of the nicotine you want in the final product and the app works out the rest telling you what percentage vol you need of each ingredient.
eLiquid Calculator (Android)
Another eLiquid calculator for Android that is free however also features some other calculators like a resistance calculator.
Vape Boss (iOS) | Android)
Vape Boss is an all in one app for vapers that features an Ohm’s law calculator, coil building calculator, a library of devices and other products, an eCig store locator tool to help you find local eCig outlets a wiki type encyclopaedia and much much more.
Vape Tool / Vape Tool Pro (Android)
Probabably the most well rounded and attractive looking app of the bunch Vape Tool really has it all with a calculator for pretty much everything, lots of other very helpful resources and a beautiful app version. The only drawback (no pun intended) is that it only works on Android. There is a big gap in the market for an App as good as this for the iOS store / iPhone users.
Prefer not to install lots of apps? Why not use a website which features multiple calculators such as Steam Engine.
Our Verdict?
We like many of the vape apps in this article for different reasons and purposes however a lot depends on what you are looking for and need help with, your level of experience and whether you are using an iOS device or Android. We haven’t had a chance to properly test any apps available on the Windows App store or any other mobile device providers though there are a few available.
